Tamil Isai Sangam was established in the year 1943 by Raja Sir, Annamalai Chettiyar with a vision to promote Tamil Isai. Tamil Isai Sangam plays a major role in co-ordinating Music artists for the growth of Tamil Isai and Tamil Culture. Moreover Tamil Isai Sangam has been producing the music scholars through Tamil Isai Kalloori, every year.
Tamil Isai Sangam has contributed a lot to pann research by encouraging the research scholars to conduct research with regard to the presence of the various segments of panns in the ancient religious literature. In order to honour the erudite Tamil Scholars in Tamil Isai, they are conferred with the award of “Tamil Isai Parerignar”. Conferences on research in music have been convened every year to make the rare aspects of music known to the country through such conferences.
There is a good collection of ancient musical instruments which have been kept safe for years together in the Tamil Isai Sangam. Moreover there is a treasure of collection of rare books on music in the library in Tamil Isai Sangam and Tamil Isai Kalloori. A remarkable feature is that books authored by Tamil Isai scholars have been published by Tamil Isai Sangam every year.
The mission of Tamil Isai Sangam is to spread the Tamil Isai for and wide through Tamil Isai Kalloori which is the off-shoot of Tamil Isai Sangam.
Classes in the day as well as in the evening college have been conducted to facilitate the students who are infused with the desire to learn Tamil music in various disciplines. As a result, many great scholars have been successfully produced so far by the Tamil Isai Kalloori. It is quite relevant to make a mention at this juncture, that Certificate, Diploma, Under-Graduate Courses and Post-Graduate Courses that are offered by the Tamil Isai Kalloori at have already been approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu and University of Madras and at present by the Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University.
